LGBT Charter of Rights: Silver Charter Mark

LGBT Charter Silver

Dance Base is incredibly proud to be the first arts organisation in Scotland to be awarded the LGBT Charter of Rights Silver Charter Mark by LGBT Youth Scotland.

This is an objective we have been pursuing since September 2016, in order to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to inclusion and diversity, and in particular, our desire to ensure that Dance Base is a safe and welcoming space for all LGBTQIA people.

The journey toward the Charter Mark has included the establishment of the Dance Base Safe Space policy, and our promotional campaign, #DBSafeSpace; our participation in Purple Friday; our highlighting of gender neutral toilet facilities; the hosting of ID.Y Fest, a mini-festival which celebrated identity, difference and connection; our participation in the #WhenWeWereYoung hashtag as part of LGBT History Month; staff training sessions with LGBT Youth Scotland; and a review and update of policies in the Dance Base staff handbook to ensure that they reflect current LGBTQIA best practice.
