Young Dancer Classes at Dance Base

Young Dancer 2022

For everyone from tiny tots to teenagers, dance is one of the best ways to keep fit and have fun at the same time. Dance Base has a variety of classes this term to help young movers express themselves, learn new skills and bond with parents and friends.

Join us for Tots and Tummy Time, a class which supports development through sensory play and gentle movement. Perfect for babies who are not yet walking (up to 18 months), this class gives our very youngest dancers and their grown-ups a chance to have fun playing, bonding, and moving together.

Toddlers (18 months – 3 years old) can come to jump, stomp, wriggle, and giggle at Dance n Play. Work with your child in this fun, expressive and energetic class, helping them to develop important skills such as balance, coordination and confidence through songs, movement, and play.

Mini Dance Academy for P1-3 and Junior Dance Academy for P4-6 provide young dancers with an introduction to a variety of dance styles including Ballet, Contemporary and Jazz, building strong foundations through technical exercises and routines which allow them to explore their creativity whilst developing their confidence, performance skills and musicality.

Get moving after school with one of our After School classes! Those in p5-7 can come to our Musical Theatre class, where they will learn and create full choreographies to songs from The Greatest Showman, Six, Matilda and more. Or for those aged 12+, our Street Dance class offers a fun, relaxed environment in which to learn elements of old and new school hip hop, commercial, jazz funk, reggaeton and much more, with a spotlight on having lots of fun and taking the opportunity to express your unique self.

Our legendary Friday Disco Dance Off is the place for pre-school kids, their grown-ups, and siblings to shake and shimmy. Kickstart the weekend in this entertaining and energetic way (and get home in time for tea).

Try something new in our Saturday Aerial classes. Hang, climb, swing and fly using aerial kit such as silks, hoop and trapeze. This class will help you learn and explore aerial dance techniques working towards developing sequences, tricks and choreography linking the air to the floor. With classes for 8-10 and 11-16 year olds, this course is suitable for all abilities, and is a great introduction to the air or using your dance skills in an alternative way!
